Derived from its South African roots, Kwalu comes from the Xhosa word for bamboo which is known for its strength, flexibility and eco-friendly properties. These traits are reflected in our company’s passionate commitment to durable, sustainable, innovative products.
We had our seating, tables and casegoods certified to the most transparent Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) standard for furniture with Indoor Advantage Gold. Indoor Advantage Gold certification is SCS Global Services’ highest level of indoor air quality performance for furniture. The certification assures that furniture products support a healthy indoor environment by meeting strict chemical emission limits for volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
To be certified, products must be tested by independent labs for compliance with the ANSI/BIFMA X7.1, and either ANSI/BIFMA e.3 or CDPH/EHLB Standard Method V1‐1 for VOC emissions of concerns. It aligns with CA 01350 and qualifies for many building schemes including LEED v4.
We are excited to announce that we are now LEVEL® certified. BIFMA‘s sustainability certification program for furniture, LEVEL, is a comprehensive and transparent third-party certification program. The LEVEL mark attests that the product, the manufacturing facility, and the company responsible for the product brand, have been evaluated against the multi-attribute criteria of the ANSI/BIFMA e3 Furniture Sustainability Standard. Products certified under the level program can be chosen with confidence.
Kwalu furniture can contribute to individual LEED credits.
